-day 2 [Friday, 18/03/2022]

Today's achievements:

  • Did laundry
  • Cleaned my closet
  • Watched a movie (A Star Is Born)
  • Worked out a bit in the PM
Not super productive, but hey, I'm doing something at least. I was tired and ended up napping most of the day. I was counting on today to get lots of things done and hopefully study, since it was a HOLI-DAY (Holi is a festival of colors, if you didn't know πŸ˜…), but did not manage to study, at all. A lot of hope pinned on the weekend to get things done.

When will media stop portraying toxic/unhealthy and even abusive relationships as romantic and sweet! To be honest, I once believed the same thing. TWILIGHT, SUICIDE SQUAD, KISSING BOOTH, EUPHORIA, I hate to admit but even FRIENDS and THE NOTEBOOK! Violence, control, gaslight, obsession and intense jealousy really aren't that romantic in reality. Remember that these are not what one should be looking for in a relationship. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper portrayed a couple in a mentally abusive relationship in 'A Star Is Born'. Ally continues to make sacrifices and excuses for Jackson, all because she feels like she owes him for her accomplishments. No matter how lightly she treads on those eggshells, she can't save him from his demons. Instead of celebrating Ally's achievements, Jackson spirals further into addiction and depression. There isn't a happy ending to this tale, yet we are captivated by their "love story". Be careful when you watch something, because I have seen so many people believe that what is portrayed is what girls want or how boys should act. Also a form of gaslighting that I don't see mentioned nearly as much as, say, refusing to acknowledge the past, or misremembering a conversation, is the way abusers project an identity or a characteristic on someone so strongly that, they take on this projection as a fact about themselves. Like being told you're incapable of love, or being told that you are hateful, cruel or dangerously mentally ill, or that you are not good enough.
It's time to stop confusing passion with abuse and look at these stories as more of a cautionary tale.

  4. I personally dont think the takeaway from “A star is born” is their captivating love story but rather the tragedy of depression and loneliness. Nonetheless, interesting take on it.
