Being a fan is such a strange thing... you watch a movie or read a book for the first time, and sometimes you immediately fall in love while other times you can’t decide if you like it or not. Always, however, a specific character stands out, making you feel like they were created specially for you. They are practically perfect, their flaws just make them more charming. Even though a proper conversation is impossible, the character shares a bond with you as deep as a real life friendship. Little things about them make you happy... the way they smile, the way they speak. When real life hopes and dreams fail that character is always there for you, never changing, ever faithful.

Coraline is a short but delightfully dark and creepy book that just happens to feature one of my absolute favorite characters. Is it wrong that I want to be Coraline's best friend?
